Who is responsible for your information?
Richard Browning Painting & Decorating is responsible for personal information collected through this website. If you have a privacy question or want to exercise one of your data-protection rights, please use the Contact page.
What information we collect
If you send an enquiry through the website, we may receive your name, email address, subject, message and any other information you choose to include, such as the property location or the timescale for the work.
Technical information may also be processed where it is necessary to deliver and protect the website and contact form. This includes anti-spam and security checks.
How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and requests for quotations.
- To discuss, arrange and provide decorating work where you ask us to do so.
- To protect the website and contact form from spam, bots, fraud and abuse.
- To meet legal, accounting or regulatory obligations where they apply.
Submitting the contact form does not subscribe you to a marketing list.
Our lawful bases
Where you ask for a quotation or information about work, we may process your details because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. We may also rely on legitimate interests to respond to genuine business enquiries and to keep the website secure. Where the law requires us to keep or disclose information, we rely on the relevant legal obligation.
Contact-form information
The website contact form sends your enquiry by email using the site’s WordPress mail system. The contact-form plugin does not keep a copy of your enquiry message, name or email address in the WordPress database after sending. It keeps limited operational information about the most recent send, such as the time, whether WordPress accepted the message for sending, and the configured recipient details. Short-lived anti-spam rate-limit data is also used to prevent repeated automated submissions.
The email itself may be retained in the receiving mailbox for as long as it is reasonably needed to deal with your enquiry and any resulting work.
hCaptcha
We use hCaptcha to protect the contact form from automated abuse. hCaptcha is provided by Intuition Machines, Inc. It may analyse technical and behavioural information, such as an IP address, browser or device information and interaction with the page, to help determine whether a submission is being made by a person rather than a bot.
We use this service for website security and abuse prevention. You can read the hCaptcha Privacy Policy and hCaptcha Terms of Service.
Who we may share information with
Information is only shared where it is reasonably necessary to operate the website, respond to you, provide the requested service or meet a legal obligation. This may include website hosting and email providers, hCaptcha as a security provider, professional advisers, and public authorities where disclosure is legally required.
We do not sell your personal information.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, the provider is expected to use an appropriate legal mechanism or safeguard for the transfer of personal data where one is required.
How long we keep information
Enquiry information is kept only for as long as it is reasonably needed to respond and deal with the matter. If an enquiry becomes a customer relationship, relevant correspondence and business records may be retained for longer where needed to provide the service, deal with warranties or disputes, or meet legal and accounting requirements.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to certain processing.
If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
